Kadu on Gentoo Linux

The main Portage tree for Gentoo Linux provides a net-im/kadu package which installs Kadu along with most official plugins. It doesn't, however, provide all plugins and some of them are forced on.

An alternative to this is the roslin uberlay repo, in which Kadu has been split into individual components. This allows for more finely-grained control of what is installed in your system. Moreover, this repo provides all available plugins including the external ones, and updates are usually done as soon as possible. More details regarding this installation method can be found below.

Installation (roslin uberlay):

Step 1 (configuring layman):

emerge layman
echo "source /var/lib/layman/make.conf" >>/etc/make.conf

Step 2 (adding the repo):

layman -f
layman -ka roslin

Step 3 (the actual install):

emerge -C kadu (if you had Kadu from the official tree installed)
emerge kadu

Please use the following command to display the complete list of Kadu plugins available in the repo (requires the eix package):

eix kadu-
